The European Union
The goal: a strong Europe
As an association of Europe, the European Union has several objectives:
the strengthening of the member states through an intensive cooperation,
and promote the European single market. In addition, a strengthening of
the economy in Europe in the context of globalization and the world.
Moreover, the EU for the interests of Europe worldwide. This concerns,
for example, in environmental policy objectives, and the peace policy.
Europe adopts a "neutral" role between East and West and maintains
political and economic relations with all countries worldwide. It calls
for the observance of human rights and peace - possibly with the use of
troops. Also for the security and peace within Europe, the EU is active.
This is even an original reason for the creation of a European Alliance:
A strong and united Europe for intra-European conflicts and to prevent
the occurrence of strong relations with third nations.
But the EU also has its downsides. So swallow the very complex
administrative apparatus billion of taxpayers' money, and the
financially strong solidarity of the members have much money for the
promotion of the weaker States. In addition, the bureaucracy is often
criticized for: rules and regulations are Europe-wide, partly extremely
standardized, un the implementation of the decisions is often an
intrusion into their own national / regional policy, with a lot of red
tape and expense.
